We are usually able to accommodate rush orders (orders that need to be completed in less than 4 weeks) for a nominal fee. Please email us if you are in need of a rush order and we will let you know if we will be able to complete your order.
How long will it take from start to finish? We begin the process with an initial consultation in person, over the phone or through email. During which we will discuss your design style, personal flair, and event information. I want to get to know you, so I can tailor your invitation to perfectly reflect your wedding and the two of you. Once we figure out your needs, I will prepare a personalized quote based on your invitation/ accessory requirements and our discussions during the consultation. This will take a few days to a week depending on the complexity of your invitation. Once the details of your custom design have been agreed upon, you will be provided with a service contract that identifies the total cost, deliverables, and time/payment schedule for the project. Once we receive your form and deposit, the magic begins. During the design phase, I will send email you sample designs for your review. Please send your feedback via email so I have a record of your changes. Once you select one of the design options, I’ll take that design and your feedback to create the perfect invitation. A final proof JPG will be provided and you are required to sign off, before I can begin production. Proofing is solely your responsibility. Please note - Design will only begin after a signed contract and deposit are received.
What is a proof?Simply put, a proof is a digital version of your design provided to you for proofreading copy and checking over design details. It's your opportunity to make changes or catch any errors in the design before we send your design to print. We send proofs to you as JPG documents by email for your approval.
Why is carefully approving my proof important? This is one of the most important parts of the process because the final proof you approve will go directly to print. It's important to check if there are any spelling, grammar, layout, material, design, or color errors. By approving the proof with your signature, you are saying that you accept all the details of the design and giving us authorization to go to print. We can't be held responsible for any errors that you approve on the final proof.
How far in advance should I order my wedding invitations? We recommend starting your wedding invitation search 4-6 months before your wedding date. That way you’ll have about 1 month to shop around for the perfect invitation for your wedding; 2-3 months for your wedding invitations to be made; and 2 months advance to send out your wedding invitations.
How many extra invitations should I order? After you’ve come up with the total number of invitations you’ll need, we advise ordering about 10% extra invitations. Obviously, if you’re only inviting 25 guests, then this number will be less. You’ll want to make sure you have extra invitations in case there are any last minute guests you decide to invite to the wedding, and that you have keepsakes for you and any family members that request them.
How do you ship wedding orders? We ship via USPS Priority Mail. Once shipped, invitations normally take 5-7 business days to arrive to you.
Do you offer engraving, letterpress, or thermography? We currently only run on digital and do not offer engraving, letterpress, or thermography.
Do I have to tie all the bows and assemble everything myself?Your invitations come to you fully-assembled. Then you just need to take a trip to the post office to send them on their way. Ensembles which are only flat cards do not require assembly and will be packaged in stacks. If you have chosen the option to assemble the cards yourself, then you will receive a sample piece as a guide to finishing the rest of the cards yourself.
How do I pay for my order?Once you decide to use DKM Designs, Inc. to create your design, we require a 50% non-refundable deposit of your quoted price and a signed contract. Once the deposit and contract are received the layout of your custom design begins.
The remainder of your balance is due once you have given your final approvals on all pieces of your package, color, fonts, etc. Printing and production will only commence once your balance is paid-in-full and you have signed off on the final “digital” proof.
DKM Designs, Inc. accepts check, money orders, Visa and MasterCard. Please advise us of your payment method in advance.
Does the invitation price include postage? No, you are responsible for all postage costs including delivery charges, but we will gladly purchase stamps for you and affix them to your envelopes for an additional charge.
What is your cancellation and return policy? If you decide to cancel your order before your final proof approval, we will retain only your initial 50% deposit. If you decide to cancel your order after your final proof approval, we retain the right to keep the full amount. Because of the customized nature of our product, we do not accept returns. If any errors are discovered after your final approval and we have gone to print, we are required to charge for a reprint (if requested.)
